4 years in the making, v2.5 is now live!

Introducing games.directory v2.5

It's been an incredible journey since I started games.directory back in 2014, just as a way to explore programming and create a simple directory of games. Little did I know that it would evolve into the remarkable platform it is today.

Numbers don't lie, and I'm thrilled to share some amazing statistics with you:

  • Over 100 billion achievements are being meticulously tracked, spanning across 50+ million gamers worldwide. That's an astonishing average of 2000 achievements per gamer!
  • There is a bustling community of 2+ million registered users, and together, they have collected a whopping 4 billion collections. That means each user has an average of 80 collections!

Of course, these numbers are rounded, and I'm still working tirelessly to sync everyone's achievements, but I'm proud of the progress I've made.

The vision for games.directory has always been to make gaming a more connected, enjoyable experience. I wanted to make it easy for players to find games they love and effortlessly stay connected with their friends across different platforms. And I've achieved that and more!
games.directory is now easily connected with all your buddies scattered across multiple platforms or services. Thanks to direct integrations with major gaming platforms, we collect all the data you need to effortlessly visualize all your gaming activity.

Not only that, but I've also integrated statistical overviews for popular games like Halo, Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Rocket League, with many more on the way. Whether you're a casual gamer or a hardcore enthusiast, games.directory has something for everyone.

Fellow developers, you have not been forgotten! games.directory's robust and developer-friendly API allows anyone to seamlessly integrate games.directory with their own platforms or tools. And there's more to come, so stay tuned!

Professionally, this journey has been incredibly rewarding too. I've learned invaluable lessons about building a scalable, reliable, and secure application. Testing and documentation have become cornerstones of my development process, ensuring a seamless experience for my users. Good design and clean code have been my guiding principles (I like to think I've nailed it!).

So, what's next for games.directory? The foundation is strong, but I'm not stopping here. I have big plans to make this platform open-source, profitable, and sustainable for the long haul. I want to keep working on it for the next 25 years and beyond.

  • In the coming updates, I'm introducing a Shop, where you can buy games, gear, and more, using the achievements you've earned so far, and beyond.
  • I'm also exploring a subscription model, granting access to premium features for dedicated users.
  • AI is the future, and I'm embracing it! My main goal has always been to help you avoid buying games you wouldn't like, and with all the data I've gathered, I'm confident I can make this happen through advanced AI features.
  • Community is at the heart of games.directory, and I want to foster that even more. I'll be adding a Forum, additional social features, and a stronger focus on camaraderie.
Get ready for weekly and monthly challenges with awesome prizes, where you can showcase your gaming prowess!

In closing, I want to express my gratitude to the incredible gaming community that has supported and grown with games.directory. Your feedback, enthusiasm, and passion have driven me to create a platform that truly enhances the gaming experience.

So here's to the future of gaming - with games.directory v2.5, the possibilities are endless, and I can't wait to see what the next chapter holds! Thank you for being part of this incredible adventure.
